Phyllis Brooks passed away in Wichita at the age of 51 on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 12:31pm.  She was born on Saturday, May 31, 1969 at 12:31pm in Ponca City to Vernon Sr and Conelious Brooks.  Phyllis was the middle child of their union.

Growing up in Newkirk, Phyllis attended the Newkirk public schools, graduating from Newkirk High School in 1987.  She welcomed her only child, a beautiful baby girl, in 1994.  She worked at UPS in Ponca City for 9 years before relocating to Hays, Kansas in 2007 where she lived for 6 years.  Phyllis lived her days in Newkirk, Ponca City, Hays, KS and Wichita, KS.

Phyllis enjoyed scrapbooking, making things for her family and granddaughters; Lyric and Zeplynn, and spending time with friends.  She attended many a concert over the years.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter; Bree Kiser, granddaughters; Lyric Raine and Zeplynn Jade all of Hays, KS, mother; Conelious Riley of Newkirk, brothers; Vernon Brooks and his wife Julie of Lawrence, KS, Rochelle Riley and his wife Talisha of St. Louis, sister; Dawn Brooks of Lawrence, KS, nephew; Corbin Lee Riley and niece; Taylor Colemon both of St. Louis.

Those that passed before her are her father; Vernon Brooks, Sr; grandparents; Arthur and Alvernia Davidson and Carl and Belzora Brooks, aunt; Hattie Brown, uncle; Ricardo Abbott, and nephew Keenen Michael Brooks.

A Celebration of Phyllis’ Life will held from 10am to noon on Saturday, September 12th, at the Newkirk Church of Christ, 1001 W Boaz Street in Newkirk.  Floral remembrances are being accepted at the church.
