Dateline-Exeter, NH John M. Fernandes, 91, passed away on September 6, 2020 at his home in Exeter, NH. He was born July 27, 1929 in Pawtucket, RI, son of the late Casimiro Fernandes and Delfina (Alexandre) Fernandes. John grew up in Rhode Island and was one of three children in his family. He graduated from St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, RI Class of 1947 and Fordham University, NYC, NY Class of 1951. John served honorably in the United States Army from 1951-1953. On February 12, 1955, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty” Cantwell and they had six children together. They resided in Quincy, Agawam and Westfield, MA before moving to Exeter, NH 47 years ago. John’s career spanned over 40 years in sales and sales management representing Consumer Products companies. Fondly, John’s family remarked that their father was the most amazing, kind, compassionate and thoughtful man. John was a communicant of St. Michael Church, Exeter, NH. He was an avid reader and a life long Boston Red Sox fan. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Betty Fernandes on May 25, 2018, his brother, Manuel, and his sister, Florence. John is survived by his daughter, Katherine Tuck, daughter and spouse, Mary Ellen and David Cail, son and spouse, John "Jay" and Karen Fernandes, son, Stephen Fernandes, son and spouse, Chris and Lisa Fernandes, son and spouse, Michael and Christian Fernandes, 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be at Saint Michael Parish in Exeter, NH on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 11:00am.. Burial will be in Exeter Cemetery.
