Mrs. Julia "Judy" S. Powell

Mrs. Julia “Judy” Simmons Powell, 78, wife of Mr. James H. Powell, entered into rest on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at her residence. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Lynnette Powell.   Born in Charleston, SC, Mrs. Powell was the daughter of the late Grover and Ada Mintz Simmons. She retired from Savannah River Site with 25 years of service.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Aiken, and their Joy Circle.   Left to cherish her memory is her husband Mr. James H. Powell, of Aiken, SC; her children: Deborah Powell King and Lawrence James Powell, both of Aiken, SC; a sister, Jeanette Molizon, of Greenville, SC; a brother Alvin Simmons, of James Island, SC; four grandchildren: Christopher McNeely (Christina), of Aiken, SC, Chad McNeely (Terri), of Martinez, GA, Kendall Powell, of Aiken, SC and Stacy Bolin (Justin), of North Augusta, SC and nine great-grandchildren with the tenth one due in October.  The family will greet friends Thursday morning beginning at 9 o’clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson David Highway, Graniteville, SC followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10 o’clock in the chapel of the funeral home.
