Joyce Rankin

Joyce Cecilia Rankin age 80 passed away surrounded by her family Saturday, September 5, 2020 at her residence in Hagerstown. Joyce was born on May 26, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Ruth and Lawrence Cole. Joyce spent over 50 years doing what she was passionate about working at hair salons in the Hagerstown area and retired from Charlene’s Hair Gallery. She loved her family tremendously, spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends brought great joy to her. Cooking for holidays, birthdays, any occasion and for friends that were in need was something that she did with great love! Joyce was known for her spunky personality, sense of humor, and dazzling sense of fashion. Her home was always decorated with perfection both inside and out which she took much pride in. Shopping was one of her favorite things to do, she never forgot a birthday and at Christmas everyone was thought of by her and included with a gift of something. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Lawrence Cole and her great grandson Tyler. Joyce is survived by her longtime companion Paul Chaney, children Cathy Gipe, William (Bill) Thomas and wife Karen, Lawrence (Larry) Thomas and wife Linda and Brian Toms and husband Roger. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jeff and wife Tanja, Pebbles, Dustin, Ashleigh, Jamie and husband JD and Cassie and husband Ryan along with twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Joann and brother Gerald, niece, nephews and many good friends. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Hospice of Washington County.
