Effie Mae Garrett

Effie Mae Vanderpool Garrett age 88 widow of the late Rev. Freddie Garrett passed away from this life on Friday September 4th, 2020 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg. Effie was born on May 19th, 1932 in Magoffin County to the late Abe Vanderpool and Betty Louise Shepherd Vanderpool. Effie was a homemaker and member of House of Worship Church. Effie is survived by her children: George David Garrett of Allen, Freddy Dean Garrett of Auxier, Freda Sue Crace and Dora Phyllis Spears both of Prestonsburg, Betty Lou Garrett of Allen and Versa Lynn Clark of Abbott; 20 Grandchildren, 31 Great-Grandchildren and 12 Great-Great Grandchildren. And several brothers and sisters. Along with her parents and husband she is preceded in death by one son: James Danny Garrett; two daughters: Barbara Louise Garrett and Brenda Kay Garrett-Adkins; and several brothers and sisters Funeral services for Mrs. Garrett will be held Wednesday September 9th, 2020 at 2pm at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home in Martin with Reverend Donnie Hackworth and Larry Patton officiating. Burial will follow at The Garrett Family Cemetery (Calf Creek) in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Visitation will begin Monday after 6pm at the funeral home and follow on Tuesday.
