Joyce A. DiPietro Obituary

Joyce (Roy) DiPietro (Tine & Corrente) Joyce DiPietro Tine (AKA, Nana, Hoya), of Manchester, CT died peacefully at West Side Care Center during the afternoon hours of September 5th, 2020. She was born in East Providence, Rhode Island in November 1932 where she later met her late husband Joseph DiPietro and then moved to Vernon, CT. After her graduation from Putnam High School in Rhode Island, she became a loving devoted mother of two boys Francis and William (Billy). She started her career as a secretary and then moved onto donating her time to community services, such as fund raising for Child and Family Services and was on the Board of Education in Vernon, CT. She hosted and sponsored Democratic parties for the town of Vernon and she also made it a priority to donate to the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. She was a strong woman of faith, and her Christianity was very important to her. Joyce enjoyed going to Cape Cod with her husband and boys every Summer. She loved gardening and had such a green thumb that she could keep a Christmas Poinsettia alive and thriving throughout the Summer months. She loved attending all Billy’s football and wrestling events at Rockville High. “Mrs. D” was the mom that all the kids loved. She and her sister Rosemary and brother Sonny were gifted with pronounced natural artistic abilities that she passed down to her son William and granddaughters Cassandra and Julia. She could easily master any crossword puzzle; enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles; and loved creating adult coloring book masterpieces. She loved animals. In her later years, she adopted her dog “Missy” that she loved more than anything. She walked her daily and kept Missy on her lap every free moment. She also loved occasional surprise visits from “Cooper” Corrente at West Side. “Miss Joyce” loved her friends and family at West Side, and they all loved her as well. She was considered a favorite; a class act; always kind and polite and had a great sense of humor. She would never sit still. They would say “that’s my girl”. She also willingly posed for frequent selfies with her son Billy to post on Facebook. Joyce leaves behind her beloved family, including her son Francis Corrente and wife Beverly of Exeter, RI; William Corrente and wife Kathy Corrente of Manchester, CT; her grandchildren Johnny DiPietro, Paul DiPietro, Zachary Corrente, Julia Corrente and Cassandra Walcott-Corrente and her husband Jubul and their two Children Naraiah and Ivan of Hartford, CT; her sister Rosemary of Putnam, CT; and her dedicated “family” at West Side (Loreen, Wanda, Jose) and many more. Due to the current circumstances, funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family. For online condolences please visit www.tierneyfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations are being directed to the Alzheimer’s Association of CT.
