Bob Bremner

Bob Bremner, 84, of rural Sumner, died Saturday evening, September 5, 2020, at his home, surrounded by loving family, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Private family funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli with Rev. Dennis Niezwaag officiating. The funeral service will be livestreamed on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 10:30 AM on Becker-Milnes & Rettig’s Facebook Page. Interment will follow at Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Tripoli with military rites provided by Brandenburg-Krueger Post #4013, V.F.W. of Tripoli. He was born August 8, 1936, in Rochester, Minnesota, the son of Bruce and Esther Bremner. He graduated from Rochester High School. He served in the United States Army from April 14, 1959, before being honorably discharged on April 4, 1961. On May 11, 1963, he was united in marriage with Kathryn Hausman in Waterloo. Bob worked for IBM in Rochester for seventeen years prior to moving to a farm north of Tripoli in 1973. He worked for John Deere in Waterloo for over twenty years, retiring in 1996. Bob was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. He enjoyed farming, fishing and hunting in his younger years, traveling, but most especially he enjoyed spending time with his family. Bob is survived by his wife, Kathy of rural Sumner; three sons and their wives, Mark (Joy) of Allen, Texas, Craig (Linda) of Tripoli, and Joel (Jennifer) of rural Frederika; six grandchildren, Kirk (Morgan) Bremner of Clarksville, Jessica (Shane) Folkerts of Cedar Falls, Meagan Black of Fort Collins, Colorado, Kyle Black of Chicago, Austin and Riley Bremner, both at home in rural Frederika; brother, Jim (Harriet) Bremner of Fountain, Minnesota; sister, Linda (Peter) McConnahey of Rochester, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Dudley Hanson of La Crosse, Wisconsin; and sister-in-law, Carol (Ron) Johnson of Dysart. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Darlene Hanson.
