Richard L. Duckham, 83 of Marshall died on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital in Battle Creek following a short illness.
Richard was born on August 30, 1937 in Marshall to Leroy and Isabel (Sachjen) Duckham. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1955. On August 5, 1956 he married Mary Lou Miller in Olivet. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2018.
Richard worked for the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek for 36 years. He retired in 1992. He was a former member of the Lyon Lake United Methodist Church, and he has been attending Marengo Community Church where he was playing his Mandolin for the services. Richard was also a member of the Kellogg 25 year Club, Marshall moose Lodge #676, and the Olde Tyme Music Group. He was a member of the Fountain City Squares, and Magic Squares Square Dancing groups. Richard was a caller for many local square-dancing clubs. In 2019 he was recognized for 50 years of service as a square dance caller. Richard enjoyed traveling, spending the winters in Texas, camping, and going to Jams.
He is survived by his son Thomas Duckham of Marshall; granddaughter Constance (Richard) Baker of Tekonsha; and a sister Judy Vahs of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a grandson Phillip Duckham; and a great-grandson Richard Baker III.
Visitation will take place from 4-7pm on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068. ** Due to covid19 the entrance and exits are marked and gathering is available outdoors with limited numbers allowed inside.** Funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 11am on Thursday September 10, 2020 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068 with Mr. Melvin Banfield and Mr. Jacob Washburn officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to Marengo Community Church. Contributions may be mailed to Kempf Funeral Home PO Box 519, Marshall MI 49068 for delivery to the charity.
