Mary Irene VandenBos
Mary I. VandenBos, age 76 of Falmouth, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. Mary was born December 13, 1943 in Lansing, Michigan to Ruben and Mary (Miller) Waldo. She was united in marriage on September 14, 1996 to Robert J. VandenBos in Butterfield. Mary grew up on the family farm in Clinton County. She was a 1962 graduate of Merritt High School, secretary of her class, the only girl student in her class and graduated as Valedictorian. Mary was employed with the Houghton Lake Public Schools at Prudenville as a cook in their food service and retired after 25 years. Mary’s passion was her dogs and she was involved in dog shows and judging shows for many years. Mary is survived by her husband Robert of Falmouth and a son Todd Powers. She is also survived by a brother in law Aaron (Jackie) VandenBos of Falmouth, three sisters in law: Annalee Forbes of Falmouth, and Helen Brimmer and Lisa (Steve) Howey both of Merritt and a niece Amber (George) Davis of Falmouth. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister in law PeeWee Michelson and three brothers in law: Charles VandenBos, Steve Brimmer and Jerry Forbes. The family is planning to gather at a later date to remember Mary with a Celebration of Life. The family is being served by the Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City.
