Mary Charlene Hillborg Obituary

Mary Charlene Hillborg, 89, of Coldwater, passed away September 5, 2020. She was born December 7, 1930 in Decorah, Iowa, the only child of Charles F. and May E. (Goodrich) Fraser. Charlene grew up in Decatur, Illinois and moved to Coldwater in 1947. She graduated from Coldwater High School in 1949. She married James Bert Hillborg on June 25, 1949 and they lived most of their married life at their Girard Township home. She was employed 31 years at the Community Health Center of Branch County in the Admitting-Registration Department. She served from 1980 to 1992 as the Branch County American Red Cross Program Coordinator. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church where she had served on the Vestry, was a member of the Altar and St. Mary’s Guilds, and served at the Nearly New Shop as a volunteer and Board Member. Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and an infant granddaughter. She is survived by her daughters Constance Hillborg of Palm Desert, CA; Karen Hillborg of Angola, IN; and Kristin (Robert) Bluhm of East Leroy; her sons Eric (Vicki) Hillborg of Sherwood; and Bert (Vicky) Hillborg of Vassar; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. As she wished, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater at a future date. Memorials can be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Endowment Fund. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
