<p>NEW BEDFORD:&nbsp;&nbsp;Mrs. Elvira Fernandes, who resided at Autumn Glen Manor, 239 Cross Road, Apt. 32, Dartmouth, MA (formally 91 Trinity Street, New Bedford, MA), born December 15, 1925 in Fall River, MA, peacefully passed away on September 5, 2020 at the age of 94 years.&nbsp; She is preceded by her husband John Fernandes; brother Manual Silva and wife Madeline Silva; brother &nbsp;Louis Silva and sister-in-laws Adelaide Mendes and Marie Caron.&nbsp;&nbsp; Surviving family includes her son, David A. Fernandes and his wife Vicki Jo Fernandes of Auburn, WA; sister-in-law Natalie Rishmany of Fall River. MA; niece Linda Barboza and husband Joseph Barboza of S. Dartmouth, MA; niece Linda Silver of New Bedford, MA and niece Jennifer Cordeiro and husband Joseph Cordeiro of Fall River, MA.</p> <p>Elvira worked in the garment industry and was a member of the ILGWU.&nbsp; She loved traveling, skiing and playing tennis with many of her life-long friends.&nbsp; She spent many of her later years volunteering with the Salvation Army</p> <p>Memorials can be forwarded to The Salvation Army of New Bedford, 619 Purchase Street, New Bedford, MA&nbsp; 02740.</p> <p>UPDATE: Relatives&nbsp;and friends are invited to attend her memorial mass with her cremains present on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020 at 10 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mt. Pleasant Street, New Bedford. All are welcome to attend, however due to the current restrictions, only 100 people are allowed in the the church at one time, and every one have to wear a face-mask.
