June Ida Spraggins Obituary

June Ida Spraggins was finally reunited with the love of her life after 18 years apart on September 4, 2020. While growing up in Farmington, June spent many of her days working at the Farmington Civic Theatre before moving on to become a talented beautician. Later in life, June began working at the J.L. Hudson Company in Downtown Detroit where she met her husband, Samuel Spraggins Jr. Her husband, Samuel, was a long-time musician with the Jimmy Wilkins Orchestra. The pair enjoyed many days camping with their three children and taking many trips to Mackinac Island to stay at the Grand Hotel. June not only enjoyed spending time with her family, but she was also an avid quilter. Her passion for quilting and sewing grew as time went on and brought her a great deal of enjoyment and many friends who shared this passion with her. She enjoyed taking trips with her friends to quilting shows and was always planning the next quilt she could try her hand at, especially if she could make it for a loved one. June also found joy in baking and cooking. One of her favorite outings in the fall was to go apple picking with her grandchildren so she could show them how to bake apple pies afterwards. June loved sharing her joy of baking and passed many of her recipes down to family through bread baking lessons, Christmas cookie get-togethers and surprise birthday desserts. June was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She spent her time doing the things she loved, with the ones she loved. Loving mother of Dena Spraggins, Keturah Ryder (Mark), and Samuel Spraggins III (Barbara). Beloved grandmother of Jenna Spraggins, Samantha Fingeroot (Daniel), Aleah Jacinto (Andrew), Melissa Kobe (Kyle), Mekyla Moss (Tayo), Bryce Spraggins, and Bria Spraggins. Dear great-grandmother of Vivien, Milo, Olivia, Christopher, Penelope, Tatum, and Mylie. Mrs. Spraggins was present for the birth of her great-granddaughter, Vivien. Family will receive friends Tuesday 3-8 PM at A.J. Desmond and Sons Funeral Home (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward (btwn 13-14 Mile), Royal Oak, 248-549-0500.
