Belvin L. 'Slick' Cruse, Sr., 98, widower of Kathleen Fulks Cruse, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016. He was born on August 12, 1917, in Shelby County, Kentucky, to the late Robert and Katherine Watts Cruse. He was owner of Cruse Chevron/Standard Oil Station for 40 years and manager of Bypass Liquor for 20 years. Mr. Cruse was a United States Army Veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He is survived by three children, Betty Jane Glasscock, Lee (Crickett) Cruse and John (Debbie) Cruse; seven grandchildren, Lee (Elizabeth) Cruse III, Aaron (Tara) Cruse, Nikki Cruse, Drew Cruse, Morgan Lee (Paul) Grillet, Will (Amy) Glasscock III and Cole Glasscock; seven great grandchildren, Eliza Glasscock, Hagan Blanton, Kennedy Valentine, Lake and Ryder Cruse, Lauren Dotson and Jacob Wheeler; sister-in-law, Ollie Cruse; brother-in-law, Ben Swanner; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife of 48 years, he was preceded in death by one son, Billy Lloyd Cruse; one sister, Katherine Cruse Swanner; five brothers, JR, Leo, Charles, Ernest, Howard and Bud Cruse. Family would like to extend a special 'Thank you' to his caregivers, Ann Shepard, Sonya Brinegar, Mary Hager, Charlie Morgan and the nurses and staff of the Sterling Unit at Windsor Care Nursing Home, Mt.Sterling. Services will be at 10:00AM, Friday, April 22, 2016 at Scobee Funeral Home by Pastor Jerry Johns. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of one's choice. Visitation: Thursday from 5:00-8:00PM.
