Martin Jurcina Obituary

Martin Jurcina New Waterford It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Martin Jurcina, announce his passing on September 1, 2020 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Born in New Waterford on September 16, 1938, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Feit) Jurcina. Martin spent many years in Ontario working as a forklift driver for Simpson Sears, before moving to Halifax and taking a position with Pepsi. He enjoyed gardening, berry picking, fishing, walking, and his frequent trips to Tim Hortons. He also enjoyed watching curling and cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays. In his younger years, he and Charlotte would travel to Cheticamp where they enjoyed attending dances. After Charlotte’s passing, he was content to let others drive him around so he could take in the scenery without distraction. Left to mourn his passing are his brothers Frank (Patsy) New Waterford, Joe (Frances) Halifax, Andrew (Joan) New Waterford, Angus (Doreen) Hamilton, Ont., Stephen, Victoria Mines, John , River Ryan; sister Veronica of New Waterford, many extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Charlotte (Aucoin); brother William in infancy; sisters-in-law Margaret and Murdina. Special thanks to Dr. Jennifer Lange and the nurses of the New Waterford Hospital for the excellent care they provided to Martin. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held for family and relatives. Donations in Martin’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford, 902-862-7500.
