Jonesboro- Gladys Christine Loveless, 99, went to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. She departed from the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House where she resided for seven days. Prior to that, she made her home in the loving care of the Craighead Nursing Center. Gladys was born on June 11, 1921 in Jonesboro to the late James Bedford and Linnie Victoria Jackson Green. She will be remembered with a smile by family, friends, residents and guests. Gladys had several jobs in her young life but found her place in business working as the bookkeeper for Harold Cralls City Rexall Drug Store. There she spent her life balancing their books to the penny. Gladys grew up in the Philadelphia Baptist Church community. As an adult she became a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in downtown Jonesboro. Upon her retirement, she was the pre-school Sunday School Teacher and also enjoyed service as grandmother for the Mother’s day out nursery. She was a member of WMU and spent countless hours visiting aging church members in their home or in nursing homes around Jonesboro. She was also preceded in death by her husband, A D Loveless; sisters, Muriel Scarborough, Vestal Willett, Janice Turner and Jo Cooper. She is survived by her only brother, “cute as a speckled pup”, James Jackson Green and his wife, Sue from Norman, OK and many nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Philadelphia Cemetery with Ross Burton officiating under the direction of Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Our heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses, administrators, and caregiving staff at Craighead Nursing Center and Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.
