Shirley Joyce Murphy

Murphy, Shirley Joyce- 86 Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Tuesday September 1, 2020 at home with her loving family by her side. Born August 3, 1934 she was a daughter of the late Reuben & Rita (Beaver) Butler. She was very active in St. Johns Anglican Church and the women’s guild. Shirley enjoyed baking, church suppers, selling tickets, doing anything she could for her church activities, knitting, gardening, bowling, playing cards, socializing with her neighbours and travelling. Survived by her husband of 62 years Russell, children; Barry, Brenda, and Peter (Tracey), grandchildren; MacKenzie, William, Darryl, sister Gloria Fahie, brother Graham (Ethel), sister in law Linda Butler (deceased Guy), Verna (deceased Lawson), brother in law Don (deceased Eva), nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son Charles, daughter, Darlene, sister Elsie (Tommy) Walters, brothers James (Anita) Butler, Gerald. Visitation will be held Friday September 4 from 2-4p.m. in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth, masks and social distancing required while in the building. A funeral service will be held Saturday September 5 at 2:00p.m. in St. Peters Anglican Church, Murphy Cove, Rev. Lorraine Otto officiating masks required in the church. Burial in the church cemetery. Family flowers only, donations may be made in Shirleys memory to a church of your choice. Special thanks to neighbours Isabel Rutledge and family, Hazel Albert, our wide circle of neighbours over the years, VON nurses, the palliative care team, Dartmouth General Emergency, Dr. Mallory, Dr. Hiebdert, Dr. Sietert.
