“For I am ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand” I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith II Timothy 4:6 OBITUARY Jeffrey James Rainey, a native of Peterville, Louisiana and resident of New Orleans, La. Departed this earthly life at the age of 66 on Monday, August 24, 2020 at the Sanctuary Passages Hospice Facility in New Orleans, La. Jeffrey was born on May 29, 1954 to the union of the late Frank Rainey, Sr., and Eva “Big Maw” Wilson Rainey. He was baptized in 1972 at Pilgrim Baptist Church by Rev. J.E. Thompson. Jeffrey continued his walk with Christ as a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church in Paincourtville, La. And Beulah Baptist Church, Bertrandville, La. He served as a member of the Tri Parish Community Male Chorus. His favorite gospel song was “I Won’t Complain”. Jeffrey was a man who wore many hats over the years when it came to his career/employment. For several years he served as a police officer for the Town of Napoleonville, La. It was at that time he was given the nick name, for which he is known by today “Two-Gun”. Approximately 14 years, Jeffrey served in the United States Army National Guard with the 769th Engineer Battalion in Donaldsonville, La. Years later Jeffrey was employed as a maintenance worker at different shipyards, hospitals and Group Home Facilities. Cherished memories are left with his daughters; Shakema Williams-LeBlanc of Gonzales, La. And Delacy Howard of Donaldsonville, La.; (4) Grandchildren: Ish’Mael Wilson, Rashad Landry, Ja’Marco Landry and Marion Landry; (2) sisters: Lisa (Anthony) Ruffin of New Orleans, La. And Yolanda Robinson of Gonzales, La.; (6) Brothers: Frank (Joy) Rainey, Jr., New Orleans, La., Lathaniel “LC” (Grace) Rainey, Sr., Paincourtville, La., Samuel (Letty) Rainey, Klotzville, La., Randy (Wanda) Rainey, Sr., New Orleans, La., Reginald (Patricia) Rainey, Sr., Toledo, OH and Curtis Rainey, Sr., of Klotzville, La.; A devoted companion/Caretaker, Carla Brown of New Orleans, La. And a lifetime best friend Ronald Comeaux, of Donaldsonville, La.; (5) Godchildren: Nichole Thomas, Adrien Holmes, Brandon Wilson, Tamica Mitchell and Latrell Jones-Daigle. A host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Jeffrey was proceeded in death by his daughter, “Baby Ian’rell Rainey, his parents Frank and Eva Rainey, Sr., (1) sister: Ruby Callahan, (2) Brothers: Louis “SueSue” Rainey and Michael Curtis, Maternal & Paternal Grandparents Alphons and Bertha Chillis Wilson and Lafaniel and Lelia Rainey.
