Charles "Stuart" DOWIE

Stuart Dowie of Zealandia, SK died unexpectedly on August 26, 2020 at the age of age 62 years while beginning his first field of combining. Stuart was predeceased by his father Charles, brother Jim and niece Krista. He is survived by mother Florence Dowie; sister Arlene Wharington, her children Brett (Jacqueline) and Lane (Karen); sister Lynda Jones, her children Tara (Dustin), Kirsten, Ryan; sister-in-law Mary Jo and her children Jim (Sarah) and Andrew (Mary); seven great nephews and nieces and dog Taser.

Stuart was born on February 7, 1958 to Charles and Florence Dowie in Rosetown, SK. Stuart attended school in Rosetown and farmed the family farm near Zealandia until his passing. Stuart enjoyed hunting for many years - at one time he even had the honour of being featured in Big Buck magazine. As many hunters do, Stuart had a strong appreciation for wildlife, preserving a bluff of trees so deer would have a place to hide. In recent years, Stuart focused mostly on fishing in a boat that he had reupholstered himself in camouflage print (camo and plaid were Stuart’s favourite patterns). His beloved dog, Taser would often accompany him for a boat ride. Stuart was mechanically minded since a wee-lad when he would dip his arms into a grease pail to make them look dirty, like Dad’s. He became a skilled welder and happily helped out anyone needing a repair of any sort. Not to be forgotten is the attention Stuart gave his mom. He would visit her everyday at Rose Villa without fail - Stuart was everything to Mom. Perhaps most of all, Stuart will be remembered for his ready smile, infectious laugh and penchant for conversation. He had an engaging sense of humour that made it fun to be in his presence. Stuart will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. His was a life that ended far too soon.

A celebration of Stuart’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in Zealandia, outside, beside the Elks Hall (21 Main Street, there will be no access to washrooms). Please bring a lawn chair and wear a mask.
