Amzie Smith, “Puncho,” age 54, was born July 22, 1966 and departed his earthly life on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. Amzie was born in Dayton Ohio to the proud parents of Amzie Smith Jr. and Viola Smith. Amzie was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Dayton Ohio, Class of 1984. He furthered his education at Tennessee State University, Nashville Tennessee, where he played football and earned a degree in Political Science. After achieving his degree, Amzie began his career at Montgomery County Juvenile Division where he was employed for 28 years until the time of his passing. Amzie was a loving and devoted son, to his mother, Viola. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with family. Amzie was preceded in death by his father, Amzie Smith Jr., maternal grandparents, Tullie Sr. & Mary Lee Butts, paternal grandparents, Amzie Sr. & Inez Smith and uncle, Tullie Butts Jr. Left to cherish Amzie’s precious memories are his daughters: Anissa and Twila, Sons: Mondre’, London and Marquis; granddaughter, Kori, loving mother, Viola Smith, a loving and devoted significant other of 22 years, Twila Stevens, a sister, Trinnia Butts, brothers: Bobby Smith Sr. and Charlie Smith, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
