Fortune

Arnold Henry Fortune, passed away on August 25, 2020. Born on October 13, 1923.

Two of Arns strongest passions that stayed true to the end was family and farming. A third was community.

Arn grew up in the Marney District, married and lived in that district until his passing.

Farming was not just work, it was life. That was what he was and proud to always say when introducing himself..when asked where he was from he would say “I’m a FARMER from Cardale, Manitoba.” He was proud to know that his life’s work was being carried on by his three sons and two granddaughters and grandson-in-laws.

Arn, Arnold, Arnie, Son, Husband, Dad, Uncle, Papa, Old Papa.

Anyone that knew Arn, knew that he always had a quick come back and that there would always be a story filled with lots of colorful words.

Arn married Jean Ingram October 1952. They built their home and the kids arrived: Diane, Brent, Mark and Rae.

Cardale, the home away from home, always involving family and friends in endless activities that kept life busy.

Winters always meant the rink....from coaching hockey with his sons.. hours of managing the snake pit... and helping keep the hockey and rink running.

Summers always included getting the kids to baseball games…organizing and managing the sports day booth...time at Salt Lake.

Life changed ever so slightly when he was convinced that maybe winters could be spent in Texas. Many happy winters were spent in Weslaco, Texas that created many new friendships.

His stories and memories will be carried on by his wife Jean, daughter Diane and Gord (Nick, London and Carman), son Brent, son Mark and Lynn, son Rae and Andrea (Alycia and Kyle, Wyatt and Kira) (Krissi and Chris, Payten) and numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Arns wishes, there will be no formal funeral service.

Donations may be made in Arnold’s memory to the Cardale United Church Memorial Fund, Box 86, Cardale, MB, R0K 0J0 or to the Hamiota District Health Centre Foundation, Box 671, Hamiota, MB, R0M 0T0.  Messages of condolence can be shared at www.campbellfuneralhome.ca.
