Donald Lee Everhart, Sr. Obituary

 

 

Donald Lee Everhart, Sr., age 74, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the Charles George VA Medical Center.

 

Born in Harriman, Tennessee to the late Eugene E. Everhart, Sr. and Bonnie L. Russell Everhart, he was born on December 02, 1945.

 

Mr. Everhart served honorably in the United States Navy. A man of tremendous faith, he was a humble, devout Christian from an early age. He was a retired Methodist minister in the Holston Conference. Donald loved people, and his favorite part of the ministry was visiting. He loved to eat, and he especially loved his sweets.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Alice Everhart; his second wife, Jeanie Everhart; and a sister, Dorothy McKinney.

 

Survivors include his wife of four years, Barbara Fender Everhart; three children, Donald “Skippy” Everhart, Jr. (Tina), Gregory Scott Everhart (Angie), and Elizabeth A. Dotson (Charlie); 8 grandchildren, Ashley Snell, Heather Everhart, Cassie Everhart, Gavin Everhart, Lindsay Watkins, Laken Watkins, Logan Watkins, and Lexi Watkins; seven great grandchildren; and one brother, Eugene E. Everhart, Jr. (Fannie).

 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 04, 2020 at 3:00 o’clock p.m. at Glenwood Baptist Church with Dr. Dennis Love officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will take place at Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, Tennessee at a later date.

 

The family will be practicing social distancing, and they encourage all who attend to do the same. Masks are encouraged. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Glenwood Baptist Church, 155 Glenwood Baptist Church Road, Marion, North Carolina 28752.

 

The family would like to thank the staff of the Charles George VA Medical Center for their love and care shown to Donald and Barbara during his illness.
