Shelley Rose Buechler Obituary

The memorial service for Shelley Rose (Johnson) Buechler, 60, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Aberdeen, will be 2:00pm, Friday, September 25, 2020, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, with Sue Grewe officiating. You can watch the livestream of the service by following the link under her picture on her online obituary. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. Shelley passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 26, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD. Shelley Rose Johnson was born to Harold ‘Jack’ and Gwenyth (Brown) Johnson on April 15, 1960 in Rapid City, the youngest of three daughters. Because her dad, Harold, was a music director in many communities in South Dakota, the family moved quite often, Shelley grew up in many communities, including Rapid City, Doland, Huron, Cresbard, and Aberdeen. After leaving Aberdeen Central, she was united in marriage to Jamie Snyder from Huron. They had a son, Shaun Robert, who was the treasure of her life. They moved from Aberdeen to Hartford and then to Sioux Falls. His parents watched with pride as he marched with the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps. Shelley held a variety of jobs in Sioux Falls and Aberdeen. She was unusually compassionate and competent in working with people with special needs. Shelley was a beautiful person with a big heart. She accepted Christ at a John Wesley White event (Billy Graham Association) in Aberdeen at the age of 9. Addiction overwhelmed her, fostering a partial cause of her early illness and death. But God never gave up on her and she never gave up on him. Even when she was very ill, she still loved reading her Bible and listening to Christian music on K-Love. We know Jesus welcomed her in His loving arms - free at last. We love you and will miss you but are so happy you are not suffering anymore. Grateful for having shared Shelley’s life are her son, Shaun Snyder, Denver, CO; sisters Bev Walberg and Barb Walker, Aberdeen; her nieces and nephews: Laura Coulter, Sacramento, CA, Todd Walker, Rancho Cordova, CA, and Joel Walker, Rancho Cordova, Michelle Rauscher, Aberdeen, SD, Michael Walberg, Aberdeen, SD, Melissa Brulle, Sioux Falls, SD, and Matthew Walberg, Breckenridge, MN; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceding Shelley in death are her parents Harold and Gwen Johnson, brother-in-law Ken Walberg, and former brother-in-law, Gordon Walker. Thanks to all who took care of Shelley in facilities in Aberdeen, Yankton, and Sioux Falls. Thank you to all the prayer groups. There are too many to thank individually. We especially thank her friend, Jayne Meinerts, who loved her, and her Savior Jesus Christ, who not only loved her but saved her for eternity. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to First United Methodist Church or The Salvation Army.
