She attended Wheaton College, Illinois (BS Nursing ’52), UConn (MSW Social Work ’79) and Westchester Institute (Post Graduate - Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy ’85). Vange was a loving committed energetic wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, social worker, and psychotherapist. Vange loved inter-personal communication, group gatherings, church, women’s studies, music, art, world travel, arranging flowers, knitting, swimming, skiing and tennis. Vange loved education and organized and ran a Women’s Group in Wilton CT for over 10 years. Vange was a member of the American Association of University Women, National Association of Social Workers, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, Great Waters Music Festival and Wolfeboro Garden Club.

In 1986, she fulfilled her life-long dream of building a house on Lake Winnipesaukee. From 1996 on, Vange and John have lived year-round in Wolfeboro. Vange continued her private psychotherapy practice in Wolfeboro until retiring in 2008. Vange loved cooking and entertaining many guests. She played piano and flute and loved musical concerts, especially those of the Heifetz International Music Institute.
