Marion Parent BENSON-Marion V. Parent, 96, of Benson died Monday evening August 24, 2020 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born on August 2, 1924 in Granville, NY the daughter of Bernard and Mary (Bruso) Smith Mrs. Parent grew up in Fair Haven graduating from the Fair Haven High School in 1942. She was a longtime resident of Orwell, lived in Port Orange, FL for 20 years and for the last 20 years was a resident of Benson. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Orwell. Mrs. Parent loved cooking, bingo, feeding the birds and Christmas (all year long) especially the fiber optic decorations. She enjoyed entering competitions and winning. She was the winner of several chicken cooking competitions. Survivors include 3 daughters Cathy Ladd of Sudbury, Donah Parent of St. Augustine, FL, and Pam Spaulding of Orwell, 2 sons Paul Parent and Peter Parent both of Orwell, 10 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by both her parents; son Michael J. Parent in 1971; a sister Mary Anita Maxfield, and brothers Bernard “Bunny” Smith, Jerry Smith, Jim Smith; and Edward Smith who died in infancy. Memorial services will be held 12 noon Friday August 28, 2020 at Our Lady of Seven Dolor Church in Fair Haven. Burial will follow in the Mount View Cemetery in Orwell.
