Mary Joanne Gilliam was born May 29, 1964 in Madison County and departed this life Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, being 56 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Oscar & Retha Jean (Bryant) Rowland. Joanne is survived by two children, Lisa Gilliam of Berea and Jeff Gilliam of McKee and by Brandon Spivey as she raised him as her own. She is also survived by a brother, Kenny Rowland of Sand Gap and by five sisters, Rhonda Robinson of London, Christal Gail Isaacs (Jerrett) of McKee, Peggy Coffey (Junior) of Big Hill, Margaret Flannery (Delbert) of McKee and Patsy Gray (Johnathan) of McKee. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Gilliam; by her son Bobby Gilliam; by her sister, Wanda Rowland and by her brother, Denver Rowland. Funeral service 2:00 PM Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Gabbard officiating. Burial to follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
