Steven George Dobson
It is with great sadness that the family of Steven George Dobson, known to his friends as Jimy, announce his sudden passing on Saturday, August 15, 2020. Steven will be lovingly remembered by his Mother, Barbara Dobson; brother and best friend, Allan Dobson; his close nephew JD Mckinney whom he spent every day with; his sisters Joanne (James) Mckinney and Elaine (Jerry) Topola; his nieces and nephews Nicole (William) Mckinney, Shawn (Cass) Mckinney, Jenna (Amanda) Small, and their child Huxton, Jason (Kate) Topola, and their children Indiana and Oakley, Shyra (Kathy) Butler and their children Ryder and Aryah, and Rae-Lynn Hurton. He was predeceased by his father, George Dobson. Due to Covid, the funeral service being held on Monday, August 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. will be private. However, the service will be live streamed and can be viewed by clicking on the link that will appear at the bottom of this obituary on the day of the service. We do invite family and friends to join us afterwards, from 2:30 – 5:00 p.m. in Barbara’s backyard for a toast to Steven “Jimy”. Due to Covid, we request that you limit your time, practice social distancing, and wear a mask if you so choose. Steven was born in England on March 31, 1961. In 1964, the family moved to Australia and then to Canada in 1974, when the family settled in Sundre, AB. From Sundre, the family moved to Calgary, then Leamington, ON., then back to Alberta, settling in Strathmore for the past 30 years. Steven was a strong, handsome, young man and was known to be a good athlete, excelling in track, cross country, and soccer. As he got older, he continued his love of soccer off the field, cheering for his favorite team, Manchester United. Sadly, in his late teens, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia which changed his path in life. He was known for his great sense of humor; he and his mom enjoyed many a belly laugh together. Everyone that met him said he was so gentle and kind, like a big teddy bear. He will leave a big hole in the hearts of all those that knew him.
