Obituary of Gordon John Burke BURKE, Gordon John – Passed away peacefully, on Sunday July 14, 2019 at Princess Gardens. Gordon of Peterborough, in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of the late Joyce (nee Sloan) for almost 70 years. Loving father of Vicki (Alan Boase), Paul (Glenna), and John (Sandy). Dear grandfather of Jeff (Miki), Brian (Susan), Sara (Scott), Laura (Darren), Amanda (Ryan), Ryan and Evan (Allie). Great grandfather of Nika, Keo, Claire, Gabrielle, Jack, Oliver, Chloe, Lily and Luke. Dear brother of Douglas (June), the late Robert (late Alice) and Ralph (late Lillas). Gordon will be remembered by many other relatives and friends. After teaching for over 30 years, he retired as head of the Science Dept.at Adam Scott CVI in 1984. A founding member of the Peterborough Sailing Club, built his own Y Flyer sailboat, his farmhouse in Douro, was a bee keeper, stained glass artist, and skilled wood worker, creating furniture, cabinetry and an electric guitar. Fixed/built countless home projects for family and friends. Camped across Canada with family and took many more adventures near and far. A Memorial Service will be held at Murray Street Baptist Church (175 Murray Street) on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 11 am, with visiting one hour prior, from 10-11 am. Reverend Brad Peters officiating.
