Brenda Denise Lindsey Obituary

Brenda Lindsey Brenda Denise Lindsey was born on November 24, 1957 to Benjamin Lewis and Maggie Lewis. She leaves behind three children Shyra Lewis Folk (Kenneth Folk), Donald Lindsey Jr. and Keith Lewis. Three grandchildren Kamya, Shayla and Kennedy. Two sisters Linda Torrence, Angelina Westmoreland and two brothers Jeffrey Lewis and Mark Lewis. And a host of nieces and nephews. She grew up in the South Bronx in Patterson houses and then in 1965 at the age of 8 moved into Mitchel houses. She attended PS 154, then went to Elijah Clark Junior High School. Then she went to Jane Addams High School. She started working for the post office and then Yankee Stadium and got married. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She faithfully picked up her granddaughter every day after school. She was known for her sassy comments and was a caring person who spoke to people even if she didn’t know them. She was known for telling her crazy stories and enjoyed her crossword puzzles, and playing spades and dominoes. She loved listening to old school music. Her favorite meals to make were fried chicken, fish and macaroni salad. Regardless of what a person’s name was, she sometimes created her own name for them. She even created another name for herself which was Brenda Blackmon. And her kids made up names were Tara Banks, Donald Trump and Keith Sweat. She was always indecisive about going down south because of the long route, but in July made up her mind to travel to see her family. In North Carolina she was full of life, danced and had a joyful time. Who would have known this would be her last visit? She dedicated her life to her family and will always be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother and daughter who had a generous heart, soul and spirit.
