Thomas N. Rainey
<p>Thomas N. Rainey, 76, of Charlevoix, formerly of Boyne City, passed away on August 14, 2020 at his home.</p> <p> Thomas was born on December 27, 1943, in Fairbault, MN, the son of Ottis and Yvonne (DeFrees) Rainey.</p> <p> He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1962-1966. During this time, he was awarded a Purple heart. </p> <p> Thomas was proud to be a Veteran and was a long time member of the Boyne City American Legion.</p> <p> He was a member of the LDS Church in Petoskey and was employed by CCC for 20 years as a Tool and Die maker.</p> <p> Known as “Mr. fix it”, he could solve anything if just given the time. He enjoyed camping, hunting, bee keeping and woodworking. </p> <p> On January 12, 1968, in Bay City, MI, he married Susan K. Ewing who survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Aimee (Brian) Vanderark of Ellsworth, Donavan Rainey (Tina Sayles) of Vanderbilt, MI, Aaron Rainey (Jamie Rock) of Ellsworth, 2 sisters, Lynn (Bob) Koger of Ohio, Cathy Rainey of WI, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.</p> <p> He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jim Rainey.</p> <p> Visitation will be on Friday, August 21 from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
