Michael Allen Mather Obituary

Michael A. Mather, of Oregon City, Oregon passed away on Aug 4, 2020 after a courageous fight with a long-term illness.  Mike fought harder than anyone could imagine after being diagnosed in 2009 with an extremely rare and debilitating auto immune disease which he faced with dignity and determination to survive.

Mike and Dennis Krieske started a company they named Omni Interiors, Inc. in 1983 and it was a successful and lucrative endeavor.  His partner retired in 1995 and Mike ran the company until he made the very tough decision to retire in 2012.  The company is a long time fixture in the renovation and construction of office structures in most all of the buildings in downtown Portland, Oregon.  The company remains today and continues his business plan of work ethic, integrity, fairness and above all, customer satisfaction.

Mike was an avid golfer, skier, loved fishing, snorkeling and above all else riding dirt bikes.  He raced bikes professionally and won many trophies and championships, his last race was in the desert he loved after he turned 60.  He attended the Colorado 500 ride for 10 years, met thousands of enthusiasts and made lifelong friends there.  He was a hands on father and grandfather who supported his children and grandchildren in their sports and attended every event that he could, even after his illness made them difficult.  He believed in family and never lost any opportunity to tell his family he was proud of them, or that he loved them.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  He was a good person and a great man.

Mike is survived by his wife Amanda, children Chrissey (Jim) Marshall, Heather (Curt) Wright, Bart Mather, Shawntel (Gage) Campbell, brothers Gary (Jan) Bracelin, Dick (Nancy) Mather, Jay Mather, sisters Connie (Ray) Young, Sheryl (Vern) Perkins, 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  A private memorial celebration will be held at a later date to honor his life.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to support local youth sports, a foundation for research of auto immune disease in his name, or the Colorado 500 Charity.
