Jeanie Summers Winter Springs, Florida Obituary

Jeanie Summers

Mrs. Jeanie Summers devoted wife, mother, and grandmother of Winter Springs passed away Monday August 10, 2020 at the age of 74. She was born and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee where she met and married her childhood sweetheart Richard Summers on June 15, 1963. They were married for 57 years. Jeanie and Richard moved to Florida in 1983 and attended First Baptist Church of Winter Park. Jeanie and Richard were the teachers for the 2-year-old Sunday School class where Jeanie taught the children about God’s love and creation, sometimes using crickets, goldfish, and worms. The parents were almost as excited as the children to see which of God’s creations they were taking home each week. Jeanie and Richard then attended Longwood Baptist Church for 20 years where she was the Sunday School class president. There she made gift bags for the women of the Sunday School class which she gave them on their birthdays and other life celebrations. She also created a weekly class newsletter so members of the class would know about class happenings, prayer requests, and praises. She later attended Starlight Baptist Church. Jeanie had a servant’s heart. Her motto was “the heart beats happiest when it beats for others”. Jeanie is survived by her husband Richard. She was the mother of 4 amazing sons: Richard wife Wanda, Steve wife Colette, Michael wife Cristy, and Matthew wife Nicole. She was also the grandmother to 9 awesome grandchildren: Kimberly, Amanda, Ben, Jake, Greg, Dylan, Maddi, Tyson, and Payton. Her celebration of life service will be on September 5, 2020 at 2:00pm. Her husband is asking in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to Starlight Baptist Church on 350 Hayes Rd., Winter Springs, Florida 32708 where the service will be held.
