Lois M. Grimes

Lois M. (Shadley) (Mohr) Grimes, 100, of Greenwood, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Greenwood Village South where she had lived since 1997. She was born on November 23, 1919, the daughter of Stephen Fredrick and Rose Belle (Miller) Shadley. On December 28, 1974 she married James A. Grimes. Lois is survived by her sons, K. Stephen Mohr (JoAnn Dankert), Indianapolis, and Joseph N. (Katie) Mohr, Wilmette, IL; daughter, Milly (Tom) Debaun, Waldron; grandchildren, Sonja Clark and Nicole Eslinger, Indianapolis, Sarah (Doug) Dagley, Greenfield, and Scott (Tisha) Debaun, Waldron; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Mary Alice Fowl and Roma Roberts; and brothers, Fred Shadley and Gene Shadley. Lois taught school in Shelby and Johnson Counties and retired from the Johnson County Welfare Department. She enjoyed singing, painting, antiques and being with her family, especially at Thanksgiving each year. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 11:00 am at Greenwood Cemetery, 620 W. Main Street, Greenwood, IN. Arrangements by G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens of Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN. Lois will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Friedens United Church of Christ, 8300 S. Meridian Street, Indianapolis,IN 46217.
