LaVale, MD – Melvin “Meb” Courtney Fletcher, 92, of LaVale, MD, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020, at Hearthstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born November 9, 1927, in Little Orleans, MD, Mr. Fletcher was the son of the late Courtney A. Fletcher and Grace M. (Adams) Fletcher.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Charles, James, Philip, and Marvin Fletcher; and his sisters: Helen Norris, Ada Watson, and Mary Salvatore.  A graduate of Flintstone High School, Melvin retired from Kelly-Springfield Tire and Rubber Company.  He was a long-time farmer and a school bus driver for Allegany County.  Melvin was a member of the Piney Plains Church and a charter member of the Orleans Volunteer Fire Department.  Melvin was an avid hunter.  He loved his family and was the most gentle and kind father, and so proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Melvin is survived by his wife of 69 years: Alda Fletcher; his son: Lynn Fletcher and wife, Darlene; and his daughter: Debra Kisamore and companion, Chuck Strain.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Brandon Kisamore; Kourtney Kisamore-Dicken and companion, Corey Buckley; Ryan Fletcher and wife, Kori; and Adam Fletcher and wife, Nory; and his great grandchildren: Dakota Dicken and girlfriend, Rachael Daley; Halle Kisamore; Preslea Dicken; Max Fletcher; Lincoln Fletcher; Ridley Fletcher; Ramsey Fletcher; and Ruby Fletcher.  Melvin is also survived by his brother: Glenn Fletcher; his sister-in-law: Debbie Fletcher; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Services will be private and officiated by Chaplain Paul Demers.  Interment will be in Piney Plains Cemetery.  The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Hearthstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for all the care and compassion given to Melvin.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Piney Plains United Methodist Church, 12708 Faith Circle, NE, Little Orleans, MD 21766; or, the Hearthstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Activities Department, 901 Seton Drive Extended, Cumberland, MD 21502.
