IN LOVING MEMORY OF MARGARET M. "TOOTS" MAGERS Margaret Melvina "Toots" Magers, was born April 8, 1918, to parents, James Alfred "Sandy" and Maggie (Fuller) Powell, in the Lyle community of Decatur County, Kansas. She passed away at the Good Samaritan Society in Oberlin, Kansas, on August 7, 2020, at the age of 102. Toots grew up in Grant Township of Decatur County and attended the Star country school. She graduated from the Decatur County High School with the class of 1936. On March 11, 1939, Toots married the love of her life, Carl Newton Magers in the Decatur County courthouse in Oberlin, Kansas. They made their home in the Lyle community where Toots was a homemaker and together they raised two daughters. She also taught in the country school for two years and did some substitute teaching when needed. Toots' loving husband, Carl, passed away in November 1992, and she continued to live in their home in Lyle. On December 28, 2017, Toots made the decision to move to her daughter, Jane's, home in Norton, Kansas, where she lived until recently moving to the Good Samaritan Society in Oberlin. Toots attended the community church in Lyle and was a member of the United Methodist Women, Lady Quilters, Liberty Star Club and had served as a Star Valley 4-H leader for many years. Survivors include: two daughters, Judy Guy-Easton, Quinter, Kansas; Jane Engelhardt, Norton; one sister-in-law, Delores Magers, of Colorado; four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Toots was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl, two sons-in-law, Richard Engelhardt and Charles Easton, two brothers, James and Sam Powell, one sister, Irene Cozad, three sisters-in-law, Wilma and Dorothy Magers and Irene Powell, two nephews, Jimmie Powell and Jeff Magers and three brothers-in-law, Ralph, Dale and Rea Magers. PRIVATE FAMILY VISITATION: Wednesday, August 12, 2020 – 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Enfield Funeral Home in Norton. GRAVESIDE SERVICE AND INTERMENT – Thursday, August 13, 2020 – 10:30 a.m. at the Lyle Cemetery, Lyle, Kansas MEMORIAL – Margaret "Toots" Magers Memorial Fund
