Maria Ilda Silva

Maria Ilda (Costa) Silva, age 86, of Charles St., East Providence, died August 8, 2020 at home with her loving family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband David A. Silva. Maria was born on June 24, 1934, in Algarvia, Sao Miguel, Azores, a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Dos Anjos (Furtado) Costa. Maria, a woman of faith believed in the power of prayer, always prayed the rosary having a devotion to Our Lady of Fatima. She was kind, generous, patient, loved the blessings of family and enjoyed knitting. She had worked as a jewelry stringer for Imperial Pearl. She is survived by her children, Maria Arruda and husband Aristides, Cristiano Silva, David C. Silva, Fatima Silva and fiancé Jaime Velazquez, Antonio Silva, Nelia Silva, Herman Silva and wife Michelle, Mitch Silva and wife Kerrie all of East Providence, Rosie Silva of Johnston, Dolores Silva of Pawtucket, 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her infant son, David A. Silva, Jr. She was the sister of Cristiano Costa, Duartina Sousa, Olinda Ferreira, Lucia Couto, Dolores Couto and the late Antonio Costa, Jr., Hermano Costa, Izaura Medeiros, Raquel Raposo and Silvestre Costa. Calling hours will be on Thursday (8/13) from 9-11am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse St., Providence, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Please omit flowers, contributions in Maria’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. Following the RIDOH Guidelines, wearing of face masks and social distancing is required.
