Kathleen E. Barber 93, of Freetown, NY formerly of Summerhill passed away at her home on Monday, August 3, 2020 after an extended illness.

She was born July 4, 1927 in Cortland, a daughter of the late Arthur J.E. and Nellie G.E. Heath Bilodeau.

Mrs. Barber grew up in the McGraw area and graduated from Cortland High School. She married Elmer D. Barber in April 1948. In 1950 they moved to Summerhill and together operated a dairy farm and raised their children on Champlin Road. They left the farm in 1979 and moved to Ohio, returning to the Summerhill area in 1989.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, canning and most of all babysitting her grandchildren. She was always happy and smiling. Her chocolate chip cookies were the best.

Her husband, Elmer passed away on April 5, 1994.

She is survived by her children, Donald (Amanda) Barber of Freetown, Sallee (Jeffrey) Ten Eyck of Groton, Janice (Randy) LaChausse of Castorland, NY and Kathleen (Duane) Jebbett of Findlay Ohio; her grandchildren, Keri (Justin) Taylor, Lee (Bridget) McDonald, Kurt (Meagan) McDonald, Darren (Sara) LaChausse, Dale (Jessica) LaChausse, Andrea (Jason) Trzaska, Danielle (Martin) Slade, Alison (Darren) Murphy, Dylan (Lacey) Barber, Alexa, Drew, Avery and Delta Barber; twenty-one great-grandchildren; her brother, Trevor (Beverly) Bilodeau of McGraw; sister, Janice Thomas of Maryland; sisters-in-law, Beverly Bilodeau and Dorothy Bilodeau of McGraw and Eva DeLine of Preble, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date to be announced. Interment will be in Groton Rural Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
