Darlene McGinnis, 78, of Northfield, died Friday, August 7, 2020 at Three Links Care Center, Northfield. Darlene Grace Lampert was born on May 30, 1942 in Mounds View, MN to Gordon and Marian (Shapansky) Lampert. She was raised there and graduated from Mounds View High School. Darlene started working after high school. She worked at Gillette, Malt-O-Meal, AT&T, among others, mostly in customer service. She met Michael McGinnis in April of 1964 and they were married six weeks later, on May 15, 1964. They enjoyed riding motorcycle, camping and playing cards with friends. After retirement, Darlene enjoyed travelling and her trips to the casino with her friend, Mary Brown. Darlene was feisty but loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply. She was a caring mother and grandmother. Her grandkids were a source of pride and she especially enjoyed watching her grandson, Dillon, race his rally car. Darlene is survived by her children, Scott of Cannon Falls, Troy (Michelle) of Randolph and Kelley (Dan) Dunphy of Lonsdale; six grandchildren, Delaney, Dillon, Nathan, Nicholas, Jessica and Kendra; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Delton (Lani) Lampert of Florida; sister, Deloria Skenandore of Carson City, NV; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael (1999); and niece, Cami Lampert. A private family service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2020.
