<p>Betty Darlene (Person) Gunness was born February 24, 1936 in Lowry, &nbsp;the youngest of seven children to Carl and Matilda (Nelson) Person. She graduated from Glenwood high school and married Arnie Gunness September 11, 1954. They made their home in Lowry where Betty worked part time at the Lowry Creamery office and helped manage phone calls and paperwork for Arnie&rsquo;s job. The family relocated to New Prague in 1973 where Betty worked as a part time bookkeeper for various trucking firms. Arnie and Betty retired to Alexandria in 1994. Betty &amp; Arnie purchased a home on Northside Drive before moving to Arabella Manor in 2010.</p> <p>Betty had a great love of gardening and flowers and was known for her fabulous homemaking skills to include keeping an immaculate house and being a terrific cook and baker. She also enjoyed sewing, embroidery and working crossword and search-a-word puzzles. Betty and Arnie enjoyed traveling various areas in the United States as well as trips to Jamaica and Germany.</p> <p>Betty died Friday, August 7, 2020 at the age of 84 in Alexandria, MN.</p> <p>She is survived by husband: Arnie; daughters: Roxanne (Jerry) Chlian and Kari (Galen) Huizinga; sisters: Marvel Olson and Audrey Olson; sister-in-law: Arlene Person as well as many nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Clayton and Donald; sisters: Ordella Person and Shirley Neumann; brothers-in-law: Gerald Olson, Lloyd Olson and Mike Neumann; and sister-in-law: Rudella Person.</p> <p>A memorial service&nbsp;will be held on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Anderson Funeral Home&nbsp;in Alexandria. A visitation will take place an hour prior. Inurnment will be private at Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria.&nbsp;The family requests that guests follow CDC guidelines for COVID 19 by wearing face masks and following social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.&nbsp;</p>
