Eugene Dewayne Jefferson, 50, of Bethel, passed from this life August 6, 2020 in Ft. Smith.  Eugene was born November 8, 1969, in Talihina, to Hugh Preston and Virginia (Peters) Jefferson.

Eugene was a member of the Kulli Chito Presbyterian Church in Bethel and had lived in the Bethel area all his life.  As most knew, Eugene was a huge Boston Red Sox fan and he enjoyed watching other sports, as well, such as wrestling, but playing baseball was his favorite past time.  He took pride in keeping his church cemetery mowed and he would also mow other cemeteries.  Eugene loved to fish, as well.  He was known to many people as “a mess” but if you needed a ride somewhere, you could always call Eugene.  He was always friendly and would do what he could do for a person.

Eugene was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Jefferson; brothers, Jeff and Roy Dale Jefferson; and his grandparents, Preston and Annie Jefferson, and Ed and Melcie Peters.

Eugene leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mom, Virginia Jefferson, of Bethel; brothers, Albert Shomo and Huey Sam Jefferson, both of Bethel, and Russell Jefferson, of Lexington; sisters, Patricia Shomo, of Bethel, and Deloris Samuels, of Idabel; his sidekick, Selena Franklin, of Bethel; seventeen nephews; five nieces; special cousins, Bruce Bond, Richard Bohanan, and Lyndell Ludlow, all of Bethel; special friends, Kirk and Jolene Tonihka, of Bethel, along with many other friends.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 2:00PM at the Kulli Chito Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Bethel.  Viewing for Eugene will be Tuesday, at Brumley Funeral Home, from 9-8PM.
