Mary Catherine Van Ackeren, age 65 died August 5,2020 following a brief illness.

Mary was born April 12, 1955 in Umbarge, TX to John and Marie Vorwald.

Mary attended and graduated from Salida High School in Salida, CO and attended College at Scottsdale Community College in Scottsdale, Az.

Mary was employed as an Administrator for the City of Fruita Public Works and Planning Department, in Fruita, CO.

Mary enjoyed the outdoors and was proud of the many 14’ers in Colorado that she and her husband Maurice extensively hiked, along with many other challenging destinations like Havasupai Falls in Arizona.  Mary was said to be quietly outgoing and loved her family, home and work life more than anything.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents John and Marie Vorwald.

Mary is survived by her husband Maurice Van Ackeren and Sons Matthew and Mitchell (Ashley) Van Ackeren.
