Obituary
Shirley Mae Wilson, 83, of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born in Cass County, MI on August 15, 1936 to the late Fred J. and Eva E. (Minier) Phillips.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Darla (Neil) Pittenger and Laurie (Kevin) Lower; son, Jack (Deborah) Wilson Jr.; grandchildren, Jacob Stewart, Derek (Estelle) Wilson, Jared Wilson, Garen Wilson, Matthew Lower, Samuel Lower, Ryan Parson, and Krysten Parson; four great grandchildren; and sister, Beverly Pegalow. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Wilson Sr. and by her parents.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 10-11 a.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeremy Sarber officiating. Memorial donations may go to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
Shirley was a kind, loving, and caring woman who loved her full-time job as a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a smart woman who graduated from high school at the age of 16 having skipped the fourth grade. Shirley was an avid reader who enjoyed her westerns and loved cross word puzzles. She was also an avid Notre Dame fan and could be seen cheering for her team whenever they were playing on TV. Most importantly, she loved her family and she instilled good school and work habits into each of her children. Shirley will be missed greatly by her loving family.
