Linda R. Green Obituary

MONTOMGERY CENTER – Linda R. Green, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at her home in Alpine Haven. Linda was born on June 20, 1953 in Hamilton, Ontario to the late John & Audrey (Smyth) Green and was a descendant of United Empire Loyalists. Linda was highly praised for her professionalism and was great at everything she set her mind to. She was an accomplished accountant in Canada and the United States. Linda was always thinking about the needs of others, and constantly putting them before her own. She was proud to be a member her community, and she would strongly support any local charitable cause. She especially enjoyed being the past Commodore of the Pointe-Claire Yacht Club. One of Linda’s favorite activities was bringing her beloved therapy dog, Megan, to the Montgomery School so the children could read to her. Her life’s work was truly that of service to others. Linda’s life-long partner is Jim Townsend whom she enjoyed skiing, sailing and laughing with. They have been together for about 40 years, and may possibly hold the record for the longest engagement at 30 years. They were married on April 5, 2014 at a surprise wedding for their closest friends. Linda & Jim’s life was split between Lake Temagami, Ontario and the mountains of Montgomery. They made the perfect pair, Jim had a knack for dreaming up crazy ideas, and Linda had a knack for making them a reality. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Jim Townsend of Montgomery Center; her sister, Diane Green of Ontario; cousins Lily Ann Coleman of London, and Joan Fisher of Florida; along with Jim’s extensive family. Linda was predeceased by her parents. In keeping with Linda’s wishes, there will be no public services. For those who wish, donations can be made in Linda’s name to your local charity. Some of her favorites in Montgomery included the Library, Food Bank, and the Parks & Recreation Department. Condolences, photos and favorite memories may be shared through www.gossfs.com
