Antonio Vidal Trujillo Lakewood, Colorado Obituary

Antonio Vidal Trujillo

Antonio Vidal Trujillo of Golden, Colorado, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020, at the age of 83. With his beloved wife, Emily, and immediate family by his side, he entered heaven after years of failing health. Antonio was born on June 21, 1937, in Truchas, New Mexico, to Jose Antonio Trujillo and Sara Martinez. He was one of six children, brother to Alfred, Grace, Johnny, Rubel and Marcelino. He joined the United States Army in 1955 and served as an Airborne Ranger in Korea before being honorably discharged in 1959. After serving his country, he returned to Colorado where he met the love of his life, Emily. The two married and started their family in Leadville before moving to Golden. They celebrated their 60th anniversary on June 11, 2020. A proud veteran, he went to great lengths to support his family by working in the mines and for Coors Brewing Company before retirement. An even-keeled but jovial man, ‘Tony’ was everyone’s friend and was adored by all. Antonio was identified by his love and passion for his family, faith and country. He could often be found at his home listening (and dancing) to Spanish music, watching wrestling with his grandchildren, having a ‘cold one’ with a guest, showing off his new truck or scheming his next afternoon ‘up the hill’ in Black Hawk. Those that loved him will remember his strength, contagious laugh, generosity and heavy accent. Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Sara; his brother, Rubel; and daughter, Cindy. He is survived by his wife, Emily; sons, Anthony (Tracey) and Gabe; daughter, Cheri (Cliff); grandchildren, Erika, Justin, Kristina, Cindy, Camden, Christian, Christopher and Clifford; and great-grandchild, Joseph. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church followed by a burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to cure childhood cancer.
