<p>Oris Ellingson, 93, of Sunburg, died Saturday, August 1st at home in Sunburg. His private funeral service will be on Friday, August 7th at Sunburg Free Church. His public visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Thursday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Kerkhoven. Burial will be in West Norway Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home. www.hafh.org</p> <p>Oris Marvin Ellingson was born to Ole and Minnie (Jorgenson) Ellingson on June 28, 1927 on the family farm near Sunburg. He was baptized on July 24, 1927 and later confirmed on May 11, 1941 at West Norway Lake Church. Oris attended country school before graduating from Brooten High School in 1945. At the age of 13, Oris took over the family farm when his father became ill. He grew crops and also milked cows. On September 16, 1949, Oris married Maxine Gloria Hoff at West Norway Lake Church. To this union three boys were born: Richard, Gary, and James. Oris and his family continued to live on the farm. Oris loved farming and teaching his sons and grandchildren how to farm. He would often give&nbsp;them hands on instruction on how to operate the combine or other farm equipment. Oris was the Kandiyohi County Conservation Farmer of the year in 1976. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization and on the Norway Lake Township board. Oris was a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend.</p> <p>Oris is survived by his sons: Gary Ellingson of Brooten, and Jim (and Judy) Ellingson of Sunburg; grandchildren: Amanda (and Phil), Kraig (and Alicia), Jessica (and Chad), Jamie (and Ann Marie), Amy (and Joseph), Daniel (and Marissa), and Kenny; 5 great-grandchildren: Mason, Owen, Maxine, Aurora and Castiel.</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Maxine, son, Richard, and sisters: Idella and Elnora and great-grandson, Charlie.</p>
