<p>Mr. Arthur Carlisle Smoak, Sr.&nbsp;passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the White Oak Manor in Columbia, S.C.</p> <p>Graveside services will be held at&nbsp;11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, &nbsp;August 5, 2020 at the South End Cemetery in&nbsp;Bamberg, S.C. Justin Sivley will be officiating.&nbsp; The family request that&nbsp; the Covid -19 restrictions be respected.&nbsp;</p> <p>The family will receive&nbsp;friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc.</p> <p>Mr. Smoak was born on May 14, 1934 in Bamberg, SC. &nbsp;He was the&nbsp;son of the late Jim K. Smoak and the late Annie Lou Brabham Smoak Ellis.&nbsp; He was retired from Greenwood Mills. Mr. Smoak&nbsp;served his country for&nbsp;20 years in the U.S. Air Force where&nbsp;he fought in the&nbsp;&nbsp;Korean War and the&nbsp;Vietnam War. &nbsp;&nbsp;He was&nbsp;predeceased by his wife,&nbsp;Hellen Smoak, a daughter, Annie L. Smoak and a brother, Walter Smoak.&nbsp; He was a member of the Orangeburg Church of Christ.</p> <p>Survivors include&nbsp;his children, Debra&nbsp;S. Taylor of Walterboro,&nbsp;S.C., Evelyn A. Smoak of Franklin, N.C.,&nbsp; Arthur C. Smoak, Jr.&nbsp;of Pelion, Jim K. Smoak (Jean) of St. Matthews, S.C., and James M. Smoak (Sandy) of Cope, S.C.;&nbsp;two sisters, Jessie S. Mitchell&nbsp;and Venessa Locklear both of Pembroke, N.C.; two&nbsp;brothers, Jimmy Smoak of Leesville, S.C. and Flenoir (Flint) Smoak of North; 13 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren;&nbsp;special fishing/hunting buddies, Eddie Raysor,&nbsp;David Bozard and Tommy Kinsey.</p> <p>The family will be at the residence of Savannah Brown 4875 Cannon Bridge Road.</p> <p>Memorials may be made to the Orangeburg Church of Christ, 2855 Columbia Road, Orangeburg, SC 29118.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Mr. Arthur Carlisle Smoak, Sr. passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the White Oak Manor in Columbia, S.C.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday,  August 5, 2020 at the South End Cemetery in Bamberg, S.C. Justin Sivley will be officiating.  The family request that  the Covid -19 restrictions be respected. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc.

Mr. Smoak was born on May 14, 1934 in Bamberg, SC.  He was the son of the late Jim K. Smoak and the late Annie Lou Brabham Smoak Ellis.  He was retired from Greenwood Mills. Mr. Smoak served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force where he fought in the  Korean War and the Vietnam War.   He was predeceased by his wife, Hellen Smoak, a daughter, Annie L. Smoak and a brother, Walter Smoak.  He was a member of the Orangeburg Church of Christ.

Survivors include his children, Debra S. Taylor of Walterboro, S.C., Evelyn A. Smoak of Franklin, N.C.,  Arthur C. Smoak, Jr. of Pelion, Jim K. Smoak (Jean) of St. Matthews, S.C., and James M. Smoak (Sandy) of Cope, S.C.; two sisters, Jessie S. Mitchell and Venessa Locklear both of Pembroke, N.C.; two brothers, Jimmy Smoak of Leesville, S.C. and Flenoir (Flint) Smoak of North; 13 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren; special fishing/hunting buddies, Eddie Raysor, David Bozard and Tommy Kinsey.
