Mary Jean Wahlstrom, born July 11, 1947 in Gallipolis, Ohio died on July 31, 2020 in Tavares, Florida. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Eugene Wahlstrom, her parents Paul Jones & Mary W. Jones, her sister Elizabeth Fulton, nieces Christian, Sherry & Rebecca, and her godson Jason C. Massey. She is survived by Ruby, Lorie & Destiny Massey, niece Linda and nephew Rev. Robert & Nina Fulton and many grand- and great-grandnieces and nephews. Mary Jean Wahlstrom was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Tavares. She attended Florida State University, graduating at the top of her class as valedictorian with her Masters in nursing. Her passion was ICU / Cardiac Care. She served the community for over 25 years at Leesburg Regional Hospital and also worked at the original Waterman hospital, as well as the Shriners crippled children hospital and their special camps. After her knee surgery, she began doing private duty nursing with children as well as home visits with several private agencies. Another passion she was very proud of was her membership in the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Rainbow Girl as a youth, and then she moved up and became a member of the Order as an adult. She still remains a member of this organization for more than 54 years, and she was very proud of all the things that they stand for and their contributions to the community. This was a family legacy. She was a lady that tried to help people, and she gave everything she had to make a difference in the lives of those that God brought across her life’s path. She is deeply loved and will leave a big void in the lives of many. A public visitation will be held at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel in Leesburg, FL on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 10am with funeral services following at 11am. We will then process to Fort McCoy Cemetery in Fort McCoy, FL for interment.
