<p>Mr. Robert Joseph Mello, the great story teller, better known to our family as Dumps, age 85, of Lake City, FL died peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2020 with his wife and beautiful niece Megan, by his side.</p> <p>Bob was born in the borough of Manhattan on July 26, 1935 to Joe and Rose Mello. He was baptized on August 18, 1935 at the St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church, Brooklyn, NY. He was confirmed on May 7, 1946 with the name Michael at the Holy Name Church Ny, Ny.</p> <p>Bob joined The United States Navy at the young age of 17 in which he served proudly for ten years, as was part of the Korean Conflict.</p> <p>He retired from Occidental Corporate Offices in Houston, TX.</p> <p>He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Lake City and Lake City Lions Club. Joining in 1980.</p> <p>Survivors include, the love of his life for 36 years. Kedra, she always came first and if you didn&rsquo;t believe it just ask him. Other survivors include his precious niece Megan Hewett (Brian Stalnaker), Megan was always better known as &ldquo;RAT and Brinslee Stalnaker (Little Rat). Danny (Lacretia) Flores of Hendersonville, NC, he considered Danny as a son, and their daughter Annlyn. Danny&rsquo;s children: Ryan, Robbie, and Abby. Brother-in-laws Don (Gloria) Hewett Cullman, AL and Chris (Brenna) Hewett, Lake City, FL. Nephews/nieces: Haley (Brett) Jovanovich Birmingham, AL, Hayden Hewett Mobile, AL, Hunter (Rebekah) Hewett Birmingham, AL and Nick Brady Lake City, FL.&nbsp;Great nephews/nieces: Luke/Lance Jovanovich and Birmingham, AL, Mary Hunter, Everett and Holland Hewett, Birmingham, AL.</p> <p>A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 4th from 5 P.M. &ndash; 7 P.M. at Guerry Funeral Home of Lake City, Florida and services on Wednesday, August 5th at 11:00 A.M. at the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home Lake City with Rev. Fritz Fountain and Tom Noton Presiding. Interment &nbsp;will be at Corinth Cemetery North of Lake City. Masks are optional and are encouraged by the family.</p> <p>A big thank you to Dr. Ravindra for his dedication to Bob during this difficult time, Bob loved his Dr. Ravindra as our entire family does. Thank you Sarah, April, Makayka and any other staff at LCMC for that TLC.</p>

Mr. Robert Joseph Mello, the great story teller, better known to our family as Dumps, age 85, of Lake City, FL died peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2020 with his wife and beautiful niece Megan, by his side.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Lake City and Lake City Lions Club. Joining in 1980.
