Norman Carl Steele, respectfully known as "Candyman" was born on January 1, 1945, to the late Snow and Nancy Harris-Steele in Autaugaville, Alabama.

He confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Greater Pine Pine Baptist in Autaugaville, Alabama.  He was in the United States Army where he served in Vietnam.  He later joined Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church where he remained until death.

He departed this life on Saturday, august 1, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.  He leaves to cherish his loving memories to his devoted wife of 26 years Dequinda U. Steele. His daughters: Linda (A. Wesley) DeRamus, Stephanie (Elvin) Gulley of Prattville, Alabama.  His son: Timothy (Aniece) Lamar of Huntsville, Alabama.  One loving brother: Roosevelt Steele of Autaugaville, Alabama.  His deceased siblings: Clinton Steele, Bob Steele, Walter Steele, Annie Pearl Smith, Bertha Davis, Jim Steele and Sam Lee Steele.  His sister-in-law: Faye Lois Pickett.  His brother-in-laws: Bernard (Carolyn) Underwood, Elbert Underwood (Beverly), Terrance Underwood (Tapoula).  His legacy: Nine grandchildren: Elise (Jeffrey) Parker, Kevin Lamar , Adriana Lamar, Constance (Kershaun) Rawlinson, Amber Stoudemire, Timothy Lamar, Jr., Tyrese Lamar, Tyra Lamar and Kalissa Tolliver.  Host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
