Thomas Leon Mitchell

Thomas Leon Mitchell, 75, of Boonville, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Thomas was born on September 27, 1944 in Grandview, Indiana, the son of the late Leonard Edward and Marian G. (Woolsey) Mitchell. He honorably served our country in the United States Army. He was an electrician by trade and worked at Peabody Coal Company and also was a member of the UMWA. Thomas was an active member of the Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Chandler, Indiana. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, IU basketball and St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball. Thomas spent his free time traveling, gardening, and working in his yard. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Thomas is survived by his wife of 54 years, Connie (Cox) Mitchell; children, Lisa Ziliak, Robert Edward Mitchell and his wife Angela, Thomas Leon Mitchell Jr.; grandchildren, Jessyka Hart and her husband, Kyle, Conner Mitchell, Arianna LeCroy and her husband, Patrick; siblings, Dennis Mitchell and his wife, Becky, Shannon Woolsey, Sarita Cox; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Dale Mitchell. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2020 at Koehler Funeral Home in Boonville, Indiana. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2020 at the funeral home with Pastor Daniel Edwards officiating. Final resting place will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville.
