Obituary

Katherina Murray resident of Medicine Hat, Ab formerly of Swift Current, Sk passed away on July 29, 2020 at Meadowlands Retirement Villa surrounded by her granddaughters Shirese and Hayley Noble at the age of 97.

Katherina or Tiena as she preferred to be called was born February 2, 1923 to Bernhard and Helen Ens of Schoenfeld, Sk. She grew up with nine siblings and left home to work on the Noble farm in the late 1940’s. It was here she met and married Harold Stanley Noble at the Fifth Avenue Memorial First United Church in Medicine Hat. Together they had four sons Russell Gordon born January 20, 1952, Douglas Bernhard born January 23, 1953 and twins Harold and Harlan who died in infancy 1956. Sadly, Harold also passed away spring 1956 leaving Tiena to raise the boys alone.

Tiena raised the boys in Neville, SK until she married her second husband Henry Burleigh Warren. Together they moved to Mortlach and on to Moose Jaw before settling in Neville until Burleigh passed away in 1993. Tiena was an active member of the church choir and U.C.W. She was an active gardener who spent countless hours supporting and caring for her grandchildren. In 1995 she rekindled an old friendship with Cecil George Murray. He was successful in asking for her hand in marriage and they wed January 20, 1996. They moved to Moose Jaw for a few years before coming back to Swift Current where they stayed until Cecil passed away on August 20, 2010. Tiena spent the remainder of her life dedicated to her family. Not a winter went by without the gift of an afghan, scarves, mittens, toques or slippers. She will be dearly missed by her two sons Russell and Doug, her five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and honourary family Shelley Muhle and Graham Marzolf.
